Hi, everyone. Thanks for the congratulations and kind words. I am originally from Trinidad and Tobago. I was married, went through a divorce, whilst living in central Florida. Filed a VAWA case within 2 years of the divorce. The law firm I used is the Mubarak law firm located in Orlando, FL. They are probably the most expensive firm. Those of you working with a limited budget, please try Catholic Charities. My case was filed during Covid, so this added delays, cutbacks at USCIS also didn't help, and changes in the administration. I had an interview to get my greencard, and was lucky to have a decent and fair interviewer. My card was approved within 2 hours according to this app. However, USCIS messed up with the delivery, and the card was sent back to another location. This resulted in me calling USCIS 4 times within 6 weeks, to finally get it delivered. I even had then deny my case at 2 different steps in the process. So, I understand those of us that are frustrated and cannot take anymore. Especially if we are having to live with others, depend upon opther people financially, etc. This ain't for the weak. There are free and low cost resources available. Don't be too proud or embarrassed to ask for help, or to utilize those resources.

Congratulations Did you apply for I-485 at the same time?

@F D yes, I applied for everything all together (except advance parole). Received 3 Prima Facie, and 2 EAD cards (C31). I was originally in Deportation Removal when I hired the lawyer (I went to 5 different lawyer consultations). I picked lawyers not just with the highest ratings on Google and Yelp, but also on AVVO (specifically ratings on lawyer, and tells you if they have any negative conduct). My Deportation order case was delayed, then dismissed, AND the court misspelled my 1st name on the dismissal. Court refused to make the correction, so to change the court charges just under $1000, so I may still get this done when I can afford to sooner and later, with the insanity with ICE right now. USCIS dismissed my case the 1st time when my i360 was pending: 1st time because they said I filed 2 months past the deadline (inaccurate, I filed 2 months BEFORE my deadline to file within the 2 years AFTER my divorce was filed). Had to file an appeal, contact the ombudsman, took them under 90 days to reopen and approve the i360. 2nd time there was a missing signature on my pending i485, they did a denial. Lawyer fought like hell, they never sent an rfe to have the correction made, lawyer fought like hell they re-opened the case and I got an interview within 7 days of the denial. Got approved within 2 hours of the interview. Had 2 rfes the entire process - 1 missing birth certificate (they had it in the original package), other rfe was for the medicals. I had no police reports for my case, but my ex wife and I married and filed for my paperwork 2 years after we were married. At that time we started the process with Catholic Charities. Then she filed for divorce after our 4th year of marriage. Catholic Charities lawyer was useless and basically said sorry when I called and told them my ex wife pulled my petition and that I was in deportation proceedings. Then I did consultations, found this lawyer and started my case. I was lucky that my family and friends helped with the costs. I got 15 moral character letters, zero criminal record (not even a parking ticket), entered at 19 with a B2 visa and over stayed (25 years ago). My 1st and only marriage, I have no kids, no health condition, I was very detailed in my own letter about everything that I went through, had our tax returns, we had bought a home together, lived at 2 apartments together prior to purchasing the home. I had 50 photos of us, and her 2 sons, her family, dinners, etc. I had some photos of my bruises, etc. My 2 pastors wrote letters, we went to a marriage counselor - I got their statement, so gather everything that you can for you case. My lawyer gave me 6 months to pay my bill once I signed on (with a $1500 downpayment). It cost me about $13k total. It was a same sex marriage. My abuse was emotional, physical, mental, financial. I had each person that wrote me a moral character letter get them notarized. It isn't required, but I figured it shows how serious it was that each person was willing to swear to theor statements legally.
