I am not a lawyer but here is what I observed. 1. sending/uploading documents without rfe is not recommended, esp when you filed it very recently and the type of documents could already go with application. 2. I have seen few people who uploaded some supporting documents wuthout rfe and received attention to their profile and got approval without any issues. In my understanding, the type of documents that are being uploaded and why they are only updated now but not at the time of petetion matters a lot. eg: tax docs, new house mortgage, pregnancy, etc. are time sensitive evidences which can be added as you go.

@f2a praying cool. I would usually wait for any major time sensitive event like anniversary, then add the event evidences and could include these bank statements along with them as additional documents, and write a cover letter explaining. So it goes smooth
