General Understanding
I'm currently in Morocco with my wife. I filed a I-130, got the recipt notice (notice basically saying I paid(?)). Now currently waiting for approval for consular processing while in Morocco. The USCIS fron page says it was sent to Nebraska, the recipt notice came from Potomac, however I emailed and the robot response told me to check the Texas service centerđ¤ˇââď¸
-File I-130
-Wait for approval
-Get sent over to NVIC(?)
-Do that paperwork such as the I864, which with me not having the income, Im not sure how to show my savings and that we would have free housing though not put on my 1099 taxes.
-Interview
-Bring her to the US
Am I correct on the basic timeline of what and how things should be done? May be one of those dumb questions but every forum and page I see, I get more confusedđ

I should add that I just started this journey 3 days ago, so forgive me if I sound ignorant lol

seems correct, I am assuming you are a US citizen.
1. File I-130 and I-130 A To USCIS
2. wait for decision-( approval hopefully)
3.USCIS will transfer the approved case to NVC
4. NVC will send an welcome email on how to process- fees , visa form, I-864, civil documents
5. Once you submit and the document are qualified, it will then send your case to US Consulate in Morocco where your wife will go for immigrant visa interview.
6. She gets the visa and come to USA And will get greencard and SSN in a month or so

I'm a US citizen and thank you! I did my research but I swear it felt like they were trying to trick me on some questions on the 130 so I wanted to get some confirmation bais lmao Thanks again!

Good luck and best wishes! be prepared on how to handle I-864, hopefully your wife has birth certificate and make sure police report is easily obtainable in Morocco. All these will be needed by NVC , which i donât think will happen anytime soon - atleast one year but it is never early to be prepared

Iâm Moroccan as well and I got married without having a job or a stable home! you donât need to meet specific criterias to love someone. My people are pretty basic and ready to start with someone from scratch and make something out of nothing. not much to be careful about here đ

also quick tip to check the vaccination record for medical exam! US civil surgeons will not take insurance and will charge a lot for anything she is missing. idk if maybe in Morroco she can get any missing vaccinations for cheaper than in US

The medical exam you have to submit is waaaay further down the line when youâll be waiting for desision for the I-864. Double check the list of immunizations they ask for. Itâs just something I wish I had done and save some money doing it in my home country instead of the US.
đ¤Śââď¸ the other comments about you not having a house or job. Love is love people! Also if you need to you can file for sponsor so it doesnât matter what you have or where youâre at in your career/life. When she comes to US have her name also on the lease and any other bills (internet, electric, etc).

good advice I. c. I like positive people like you

Also another tip: check what âtypeâ birth certificate USCIS accepts from Morroco. Sometimes countries have multiple documents that evidence nationality/birth certificate but not all are accepted by USCIS. I would check this document, if she doesnât have the âright oneâ it will be easier to issue it while sheâs still in Morroco rather than from US
Good luck with your process!

I.c. i get your point but before she can go for her Immigrant Visa interview she has to go see a doctor in MOROCOO for medicals- so i donât think there is a need for her to get immunizations here in USA ever again- atleast for USCIS.
i. c.Feb 13, 2021
Ooooh I see. Maybe the the list of immunizations are the same? You will still have to submit a medical exam from a US civil surgeon for I-864 once youâre in the US so double check the list

I.c. i think you are confusing with green card thru consular processing vs. adjustment of status inside USA.
Once Kevinâs petition for his wife is approved by USCIS, the case will go to NVC. There Kevin will upload I-864, pay fees and few documents . His wife will fill DS-260 for immigrant visa application, pay fees, and civil documents. Once eveyrhing is reviewed and documentarily qualified, NVC will contact the consulate in Morocco for Interview. Before interview his wife has to get the medicals and present to the US consulate along with birth certificate, police certificate and other documents. Once she gets the visa and come to USA, she should get the green card and ssn In mail within few months.

which front page says that it was sent to Nebraska? the recieipt notice?
I filed for my wife. the letter came from Potomac. lawfully says itâs at Nebraska. so is there a way on USCIS website I can confirm where my case is?
