this is such great news for f2a candidates … you gave us some hopes so happy for you … it took you almost a year to get your i130 approved is it?

It took about 13 months to get approval for the i130 from USCIS. What became clear to us during the process is that approval rates slow down dramatically over the holidays (Thanksgiving - New Year’s). We saw a ton of approvals for priority dates right before us before Thanksgiving, and then virtually nothing until February which is when we were approved. Our biggest shock was the retrogression of the visa bulletin. Three days after our NVC docs were approved, the visa bulletin retrogressed for a couple years - Make sure you check it out every month! Thankfully my husband had just become eligible for citizenship, otherwise there would’ve been nothing for us to do but wait for another couple years.

@Lejla Duratovic Yes, there is no annual limit for visas of citizen spouses. It took us about a week to „upgrade“ our case type at NVC. We then waited about a month to get an interview date scheduled at the embassy. We had 6 weeks between receiving the interview invitation and the actual interview. I think it depends on how busy the embassy is.
