From removal proceedings to GC in hand (10 year journey)
May, 14 2014 - arrived to US 2015 - Applied for asylum October 2017 - asylum interview October, 6 2021 - case transferred to the court (removal proceedings have been initiated, Master hearing for removal proceedings scheduled for February, 15) December, 2021 - getting married to USC December, 31 - applied for I-130 standalone (couldnโ€™t do concurrent while in removal) April, 29 2022 - applied for TPS December, 30 2022 - (could not longer wait for I-130 to be approved, filed motion to terminate based on pending I-130) January, 4 2023 - Court received motion January, 6 2023 - TPS is approved January, 19 2023 - master hearing rescheduled for August, 15 2024 February, 24 - removal proceeding are terminated based on TPS!! (even lawyerโ€™s assistant told me that TPS has no grounds for terminating removal proceedings => joke is on her) May 1, 2023 - filing I-485 and I-765 November, 29 - I-765 approved, duration of EAD: 5 years (God bless Biden Administration lol) Then came bunch of inquiries, calls to USCIS, uncountable chats with EMMA, uploading unsolicited evidence, reaching out to local representative and all that good stuff February 1, 2024 - interview has been scheduled (interview date: March 23, 2024) Interview day (Chicago FO) : went with the lawyer, entire process was around 20 min, overall easy peasy lemon squeezy: no separation, lie detectors or torture have been involved in process haha At the end of the interview officer said we will get a decision within the next 2 weeks (the biggest bullshit I ever heard in my entire life lol) but gave the paper that advised us not bother USCIS within the next 120 days (I mean 2 weeks and 4 months - same thing, right?!) June, 28 - 130 is approved June, 29 - 485 is approved (exactly 100 days after the interview, wow) July, 9 - card was produced July, 11 - card has been delivered
