once you’re in the US, you will especially need I-485 to adjust your status. Otherwise consular processing will do

Jessica, I disagree with what was written here. If you are outside the states and got your I-130 approved then you get DQ from NVC then do you you medicals and pass your interview in the US consulate in your country. YOU ONLY NEED TO PAY THE FEES AFTER THE INTERVIEW AND BEFORE TRAVELING TO THE STATES and you will receive your GC after few weeks from arrival here. No more forms are required to be filled.

really? i just dont want to be stuck not being able to travel back to canada to see family or even work in the states

so what im reading is I don’t need to file those cause nvc takes care of it or ?

My timeline is 10-13 months and im actively being reviewed since January but i filed 130 in September

NVC and Consulate processes will replace filing the forms I-131, I-485 and I-765.

You will need to wait for 3 to 4 weeks after reaching the states to receive your GC by mail then you can travel freely.
