Though you qualify for the financial aid with the PFD, it's advisable that you should try to refrain from using anything which will incur expenses to the state, in simple terms avoid being considered a public charge. You might truly need the help, but it might come back as an obstacle to your case, as it may rise the suspicion that the candidate might be a public charge in future. Just a suggestion I got from a colleague. thanks a bunch. I suggest just cope up with your situation for a little longer. this will benefit you faster and in ways you can't imagine, than being considered a liability to the state. Just an advise, rest is upto you if you still like to apply.

@Ashraf Ahmed does this apply to school as well?

@Ashraf Ahmed The public charge rule does not apply to VAWA self-petitioners, that's why we don't need a sponsor for a green card.

@O T I have done my research, but will still take a deeper dive and update you all here. thanks a bunch for the info. 🙏, the term "public charge" might not be implied, but the meaning of it will certainly be.

@God provides , as far as my knowledge goes, same applies for the school as well. I myself am going to school in Cali, and paying from my pocket. even though I have multiple PFDs. I am just sharing my experience and info. rest is up to you all. thanks again.
