file your taxes jointly anything else will go against you.

My husband and I did married filing separately, i was approved for greencard no issue. But i did provide proof that I was rejected for ITIN, not having a number meant 0 money back for US citizen husband and children. Now I have a social we will be filing jointly. If you have a solid provable reason it may not necessarily cause a problem. Otherwise definitely file jointly...it will be evidence they will use to remove conditions

honestly you can do marry separately if it’s a better outcome for taxes, however you will have to explain the why of filing separately instead of jointly. if the option was a problem it wouldn’t be included as one in the first place.

I filed married filing separately and still got approved. No explanation. The idea is to indicate you are married. Joint bank accounts and the rest are ways of showing financial co-mingling. Another question is, how did you file when you submitted your first application?
