Filed Mandamus... Government Wants Another 60 Days?
My I-485 has been pending for a little over 2 years. I finally got tired of waiting and hired a lawyer (paid a little over $3k) to file a writ of mandamus. Today is Day 58 since filing, and my attorney forwarded me an email from the government lawyer. They asked if we'd agree to give them another 60 days, saying USCIS intends to issue a decision during that time. My attorney said it's pretty common for the government to ask for an extra 30 days, but asking for 60 days isn't something they see very often. They think USCIS might just be backed up. I'm leaning toward agreeing since it sounds like at least they're finally working on my case. Has anyone else gotten a 60-day extension request after filing mandamus? #mandamus #i485 #i130 #i765 #ead #asylum
