@UD In-Him This is a little bit complicated My understanding is that once one files I-485, one may not file anything related to non-immigrant status/visa anymore (like post-completion OPT). I may be wrong though because, reasonably, I think they should still allow one to file for OPT irrespective of immigrant intent already shown. In any case, you would still be in status (AOS) even when your I-20 expires since you filed I-485 already. Also, please consult a competent immigration attorney to guide you appropriately. @UD In-Him You can request an extension of your I-20 from your university if your program extends beyond the expiration date. Alternatively, you can apply for Post-Completion OPT, which does not conflict with your pending Adjustment of Status (AOS) application.

I would consult with a lawyer, but I would definitely extend the OPT if you have that possibility. Hopefully you will get approved soon. But the reality is that you don’t truly know and you don’t loose anything with having your OPT. it will still protect you and give you legality here while you wait in the worst scenario.

do not apply for OPT and/or extend your i-20. that what my attorneys suggested me. it will conflict with immigrant visa that you are applying for. you kinda want to use benefits of non immigrant visa at the same time. I would suggest to apply for expedite request for your EAD.

Thank you folks. I received my EAD and Advance Parole (COMBO Card). Both were approved before the end of my I-20. My I-485 is still on CRP. With my COMBO Card (EAD and Advance Parole) is it advisable to travel out of the US while I-485 Case Remains Pending? Any thoughts? Thank you.
