F2A
Guys,, Visa Bulletin affects I485 or Form I130, I received approval for I130 after approximately five months of waiting, and my spouse has applied for N400 and will soon become a citizen. I asked Emma if we should update the I485 after my spouse becomes a citizen and the response was that I485 would not be affected!!

I don't know how the above comments could possibly be correct. The visa bulletin affects F2A (green card spouse) applications but not IR (citizen spouse). IR applications immediately have a visa available so they do not have to wait on their priority date. Whereas F2A applicants currently have to wait many years until their priority date becomes current. So changing from F2A to IR will surely mean the i-485 is no longer subject to the visa bulletin and it will get approved much quicker

@Matt F do we need to be naturalized before contacting NVC to make it IR1?

yes, you cannot upgrade to IR1 until after the naturalization. My spouse is a green card holder and is eligible for naturalization (held green card for 8 years). It would surely speed up my own green card application. However, neither of us wish to be US citizens. So we must navigate via the F2A category. Further to the comments above, the i-485 is 100% affected by the status of the applicants spouse. The i-130 is unaffected...the i-485 IS (contrary to the incorrect statements made above by another poster).
