for both consular and AOS, you have to be current before you get your visa. But you will get things like EAD and AP.

If you have submitted your application already under F2A as long you were current as at the time of application, your case process Will continue and you will get your green card

My brother in 2019 went for an interview in Chicago and his priority date was not current ( F2B) the officer told him by the end of the interview that we would keep your file in the local office for 90 days, if it become current within 90 days we would approve your case if not, we would send your file to the National benefit center and they will make a decision on your case once your priority date become current. Also, the offficer said, once become current make sure you call USCIS and let them know when it becomes current. 2 months latter, his priority date become current and shorlty after he recived his green card.

@Adam T you said it yourself f2b, what happens is USCIS currently works under filling date; and that section under the Visa Bulletin is CURRENT. final action date is the one is not, and that affects consular processsing only.

Will not affect who's actually in AOS. New applicants will be affect.

@lalo mayor here is what is written on USCIS website https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-7-part-a-chapter-6 Department of State Visa Bulletin DOS publishes a monthly report of visa availability referred to as the Visa Bulletin. The monthly Visa Bulletin serves as a guide for issuing visas at U.S. consulates and embassies. USCIS also uses this guide to determine whether an Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (Form I-485) may be accepted for filing and receive final adjudication. A visa must be available both at the time an applicant files Form I-485 and at the time USCIS approves the application.[32] DOS, in coordination with USCIS, revises the Visa Bulletin each month to estimate immigrant visa availability for prospective immigrants.[33] The officer should consult the Department of State’s Visa Bulletin to determine whether a visa was available at time of filing and at time of final adjudication and approval. Family-Based Preference Categories See Visa Bulletin in effect at the time the adjustment application was filed to determine which chart controls (Dates for Filing Family-Sponsored Visa Applications OR Application Final Action Dates for Family-Sponsored Preference Cases chart) Application Final Action Dates for Family-Sponsored Preference Cases chart that is current at the time the application is approved

@moonz g I’m still maintaining status and probably will be able till early next year just as a fall back. it’s not necessary to maintain status since AOS has been filed. however, I’m convinced by now that the retrogression will hit me unfortunately. just gotta hold out with AP and EAD till they adjudicate. sidenote still have not received EAD, working on my existing visa until EAD decides to move.
