F2A approved for a spouse ,After filing the Writ of Mandamus on my own,
After filing the Writ of Mandamus on my own, it didn’t take long before USCIS moved on my case. I’m honestly still shocked at how fast things changed once the court got involved. All I paid was the $405 filing fee and a bit for mailing, and now after more than two years of waiting, it’s finally done.
If anyone else is stuck in long delays, don’t lose hope. There is a way forward. I’ll keep sharing updates as my case continues, in case it helps someone going through the same struggle.

Hi, I’m really glad to hear your mandamus worked and you finally got approved. I’m dealing with a very complicated situation and I’m hoping you can give me some guidance.
USCIS has made multiple mistakes in my case over the years.
I had to file two I-601 waivers back in 2021 — one for my I-485 and one for TPS. Both were approved, and TPS was approved the same day. But USCIS later admitted they placed both waivers under my TPS case and marked them as duplicates, leaving my I-485 with no waiver attached.
Because of that error, they denied my I-485 saying the waiver was missing, even though I had filed it and it was approved. I filed a Motion to Reopen, which was approved. Then USCIS told me to file a brand-new I-601 because they couldn’t fix their mistake. I filed it, and it was approved in 2025.
I submitted my medicals and my husband’s updated taxes on September 25, 2025, and since then my case has been stuck with zero movement.
At this point, if USCIS had handled my case properly in 2021, I would already be a permanent resident and eligible for citizenship. I am now preparing to file a mandamus on my own.
Since you already went through this, can you please tell me if filing mandamus actually caused USCIS to move on your case? Did they push back, or did they just process it after the lawsuit was filed?
