F1b visa interview
I have stayed in US in the past on H4 visa for 6 years and unfortunately my husband passed away and I moved back to India. I couldn't use the time to pursue my masters when I was in US as I had to take care of husband's health issues. I also have undergone 2 major surgeries. Now I want to do my masters and applied for f1 visa. It got rejected on the basis of potential immigrant. My daughter is born in USA. I have reapplied for f1 visa again. when I go for visa interview, can I ask the visa officer 'my situation is little different and given a chance, I would like to justify why I want to do my masters now and I will not take more than a minute' and if they yes. Can I explain my past. Is requesting allowed? Currently I am working in my home country and I have approved sabbatical leave for higher studies.

Unfortunately when you are applying for a US Student visa, you don't have much time to explain and sometimes the interviewer has already made his/her decision based on your file. Now, you might want to carry any supporting documents in case they want to take a look. I am really sorry for your situation but if this helps, Please don't give up your hope to pursue higher studies. There are top universities in Canada, Europe and Australia too.
