F1 under OPT STEM- 90 day rule
hi everyone, I want to learn more about other people experiences who got married within the 90 day after your last arrival. I have been living in the US for a while.. before on a J1 visa, then I went back home and visited on B1 visa. then I moved back on a F1 visa. In 2011 I met my wife but we didn’t dated until in 2020. we dated for 6 months before we got engaged and then traveled in December 2020 to my home country for Christmas so she can meet my family. we got back in Jan 13 and got married in Jan 30 but just the civil. we had our religious wedding jn April, 2021 which is when my family and friends came for the wedding (it was a pretty big wedding). :) anyhow, we submitted our application two months later of our civil ceremony in Jan 30. We arrived in Jan 13… so we got married and applied for greencard before the 90 days. I have had a long history with my wife before we even dated and got engaged. I am not sure if anyone had a similar situation like me…. I would like to learn more about your experience. as of now, I got my combo card and now waiting for my interview at the atlanta office. Let me know if you have any questions.

well good to hear that you got your combo card and had no problem with your i-130. I also got married within 90 days although my wife has been f-1 for a long time. I am a bit worried about the 90 day rule but does this usually become a problem during the interview? thanks for sharing

my lawyer said no. we have been living here long before we got married so… this rule shouldn’t apply to us. that’s what I think but wanted to hear what other people have seen.

thanks! I feel like it would apply to someone who would come in for the first time then get married right away. hopefully everything will go smoothly for you!

when did you first submit your application? curious why some people wait years comparing to some people getting approved so quickly. thank you for answering by the way!
