that is really messed up you should’ve not wait that long as soon as you apply vawa you should have send 485 and apply for work permit and ssn.. they wont give you no work permit if you only apply 360 until 360 approve

if everything was filed together, lawyer probably requested c31 for work permit. the c31 category means you have to wait until i360 approved. check your receipt notice for work permit to see what category was requested by lawyer

@tired from waitingg @Dec 2024 Filer my lawyer requested c09 which is the temporary but the letter I received from uscis said they put me in C31. At first I didn’t believe my lawyer then I saw the filing, we selected / ticked the c09 category. idk why uscis put me in C31

@Ayoosh that’s a bit strange if he requested c09 they shouldn’t have put you to c31 because those are so far apart. were you there when lawyer filled out your forms? maybe you can try calling uscis about the mixup or put in a new i765c9 ASAP

same here, waiting for work permit 14months! My lawyer and I applied for C09 base vawa approved and 1-485 pending but uscis convert it to C31 category it’s So annoying 16months still waiting for work permit!

if you have your I-485 receipt, file another c09 based on the I-485. Include a cover letter stating you are requesting the EAD due to pending I485. once you get the c09 receipt, expedite due to your financial situation

would like to know more on this as well. filed my VAWA in 2023. I thought my lawyer filed a separate work permit but later discovered they didn’t. ended up filing work permit separately. nothing yet from then. 2 yrs now. I tried expediting but it was denied
