Expedite EAD
Hi all, for those of you who successfully and unsuccessfully expedite EAD card, could you please provide me with information? My F-1 STEM OPT EAD card will be expired soon (within a month😩) I recently contacted USCIS via phone and requested to expedite my EAD card due to financial loss. (no paperwork was provided as the person didn't ask for it) They told me that I should receive an email within 7 business days
1. I am wondering if they actually get back to you via email within 7 business days? (bc I heard that some people never heard anything back from them)
2. In the email, did they tell you the decision (approve/deny) or did they only ask you to provide more evidences then they will make a decision later?
3. How long did it take them to get back to you with the decision?
4. If they asked for evidence, what documents did you submit? (I will try to prepare them ahead of time and hopefully have them ready when they request)
5. For those who got approved, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
thank you so much for your time on reading this!!
you are not alone, I am refreshing the case status page every two minutes too

i tried but it was unsuccessfull. i was in the same boat as you with F1 stem opt, and I was let go bc my EAD was expired.
1- they got back to me within 7 days, on day 5 I believe with an email.
2-In the email they asked me to provide supporting proof of my financial loss to me and/or my employer due to my expiring EAD. so I got 1 letter from HR stating that I will be losing my job bc of my EAD and 1 letter from my boss explaining importance of my role etc. I faxed them along with a cover letter with the instructions, including the email itself on top of it all.
3- they never got back to me after I sent the fax. i put asked for more details or speed up they put in a service request and all but no decision was given or updates.
4- same answer as 2
5- My EAD was approved shortly after my I-130 got approved but I still haven’t received the card in my hands

I expedited twice and the second one I got it. So they will send you an email in 7 business days, in this email they might not ask anything, just a bunch of crap, or they might give you a fax number to send in supporting docs, that's when you see the hope. I was using finical difficulties as well, I made a P&L sheet, balance sheet and cash flow statements for my family finicial and state out the finical difference between me working and not working. All numbers, make it professional, most people will get dizzy seeing all those numbers and give it a pass. But if you just write a letter crying saying life is hard, they don't care, they wanna see the statics.

i would suggest creating a casework inquiry to your congressman/congresswoman, or senate, on top of your expedite request through Emma. I filed mine under the category of “financial loss to a company”. when they asked for proof, i submitted a cover letter stating the category under which i am filing my expedite request, a copy of my STEM OPT EAD, and a letter from my boss explaining in detail what my role is, the company’s financial losses if my EAD expires and I am unable to work, etc.
timeline (about 3 weeks in total):
- submitted expedite request through Emma
- received ‘request for proof’ email from USCIS after 6 days
- sent proof the following day
- after not hearing from USCIS for a week, I submitted a casework inquiry to congress
- called congress after 5 days to follow up status of casework inquiry (i suggest you call them the same day or the next day after you submit your casework inquiry)
- congress reached out to USCIS on my behalf on the same day
- got a message that my card is being produced the next day
..and prayers help a lot 🙏🏻♥️
Good luck! 😊
