Estimated time until case decision drastic change
Hi there,
I’m a USC having filed a petition for my wife overseas.
I-130 IR1
When I filed it initially it showdd 5 months as the estimated time until case decision.
This remained unchanged for 1.5 months and today it went up to 19 months?!
Can someone help me understand what might have happened?

those dates aren’t accurate at all. my case would show the same for 9 months. it’s been a year since it last updated and come October it will be 2yrs since I’ve started this process.

You are looking at about 13.5 - 15 months for approval of your I-130. Then it gets sent to the NVC and finally to your spouse's Embassy. Depending on that location and whether they are busy or not will determine your remaining time to complete. All in all you can figure 15-23 total months start to finish but hopefully sooner

it’s BS. Mine has been all over the map. they have the absolute worst technology. its just enraging when i think about it. expect 14 months. it used to be 11 months and now its jumped to 14. most people get approved around 400 days. but not all :) best of luck

the dates on the USCIS account are meaningless. And when I say meaningless they really genuinely have no pattern, and never have held any pattern, and have never at any point been the least bit accurate. This includes 'taking longer than expected' switching back to showing a timeframe of a few months - it means nothing. Doesn't even mean someone picked your file up. Not sure why they have that at all as people get obsessed with trying to figure out the drastic up and down changes in times on there.

If it is broken that bad shouldn’t they just remove it?!

"My Progress" doesn't work, don't even check it. And yes, USCIS is taking more time for approvals. They had promised to do things faster but it's the opposite. They're only working fast for K1 visas, now they are being approved in less than 3 months. Why fiance(ee)s are more important than spouses? Who knows!
