EMERGENCY AP- MY TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
I just got back from Canada and the process was smooth. Got an Emergency AP to travel for work. I left the country 7 days ago. please note that you will probably not be able to check in online due to your status. I checked in at the airport, showed my passport and EAD and I was allowed to Board. Entering into Canada wasn’t an issue either. I came back today. I was processed into the US at the Canadian Border. When I got to the immigration officer at the Calgary Airport, I was told my AP needed to be stamped and I was asked to sit in a waiting area with some other travelers. About 10mins after, an officer took us to a secondary processing area and my name was called. the Officer was very nice and courteous. He asked what time my flight was and said he needed to quickly process me. He stamped my AP, gave me a copy and wished me safe travel. I didn’t have to go through Border agency when I got to the US. it was like a local flight. Hope this helps. Use the freaking AP. This country has laws, and the system works according to law.

@pinky AK yes, you can. I have stayed outside US for over 2 months and came back with no issues.

@Alexer George Yes I applied for a Canadian visa because I am not a green card holder. As for the EAP, I called the USCIS two weeks before my travel and I was given an appointment for 3 days before my travel. I told them I was going for work. The application was initially rejected but I went prepared. the guy said if I had known I was going for work, then it wouldn’t qualify for an emergency. I said to him, I had applied for an AP four months prior and considering that USCIS hasn’t responded, it was now an emergency. I showed him all my evidence viz receipt notice for my 131, my 485 documents and evidence of my work travel. He got up to check with his supervisor and in less than 1 minute it was approved.

@Alexer George like one month. Fill out your form online and attach all your documents(bank statement for 3 months, payslip, hotel reservation etc) then you will be scheduled for biometrics. that one usually takes some time depending on where you are domiciled cos they use the USCIS center. After your biometrics, they will let you know when to send your passport to VFS with other supporting documents. You will have to open an account with vfs and pay for return courier. make sure to send to NY VFS office. They will then send it to Canada for Visa stamping. mine too about 8 days.

@Dimitry Jean bradlof No I don’t have my GC yet. I was approved Dec 2022, sent interview notice for July 25 2023 so I’m waiting to go to my interview upper week..
