hello to all. question: my 180 days EAD renewal is going to expire on December. 2021. do l need to stop working? l have i485 pending for approval

am waiting since Feb 26, Actively being reviewed since the June8th too

LP LP - unfortunately you will have to stop working until you have either your EAD or i485.

ok. I understand. but I will loose my job because uscis delay. I did everything on time. my family depends of my salary basically.

l thinking stop working if my employer suggests to do it .

I am so sorry to hear this. There are many people also in this same situation - work authorization expiring and no news from USCIS. Continuing to work may risk your I485 case so I strongly suggest speaking to a lawyer. My company had to place me on temporary leave with no pay while I wait for either my EAD or I485 to come through. You can try to submit an expedited request, claiming severe financial loss. I totally agree. we are all suffering because of this broken system. there are a number of lawsuits underway relating to EAD issues including one which relates specifically to our category. it’s completely unfair and causing a lot of financial and mental pain.

psalm 91 sorry to hear that. but as I said before. I you are following the Uscis rules, you don't deserve to be facing this can of issues.

My EAD will expire in April and I am already working on renewing it next week because of the delays. Hope it will give enough time to get another one in time. Good luck!

@lp lp don't stop working unless your job says so and in the event they ask you for a new ead ask if they will accept a letter from your lawyer stating you have requested the renewal and waiting for them to ship the new card to you. if they say yes then ask your lawyer to draft up a letter and they can possibly include your receipt # in there and address it to your job.
