I'm not familiar with AOS, but given that your DL goes hand in hand with your immigration documents, in some cases the I-797 is enough to extend or renew your DL to the date that the I-797 specifies. so, the answer is on your I-797, and what it says. 🙂 I've renewed my DL in 2 states with the I-797. so, read yours and see what it says in your case. 🙂

here in New Jersey they accept it as prove of address, it depends on the state you live in

it will do the job, Eumelio. I've used it myself to renew my DL a few times, and also change my DL from one state to another one. the validity date of that DL is found in your I-797, though, as I said above. and the DMV will tell you, when you bring the proper document be it a GC or just the EAD, then they'll extend your DL to the expiration date of that document as well. 🙂

I’m in Fla & I’ve used the I-797 along w/proof of address (credit card bill) & my SS card. I got my license the same day. Go on your local DMV’s website, they will give you a list of acceptable documents they accept to issue/renew a license. Good luck.
