Driver's license
Hello
I need the community's help with an issue.
I have now made three trips to the Broward county DMV, each time having to wait at least a month for an appointment. Each time I visit they tell me I'm missing a document and each time I get it and return it's something else.
I am trying to get a driver's license. I'm currently in the process of adjusting status. I completed biometrics in October. I brought all my receipts, I797, I485, I130, marriage license, birth certificate for myself and husband. Stamped I797 with biometrics attached, Passport, results of the written driver's test a copy of my driver's license from my country of birth.
Now I go back today, the clerk is telling me I need to have a I130 approval notice. How would I have that if I'm currently adjusting status?
Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could do?
Thank you

1) Ask for supervisor. They will either better understand your situation or they can call someone on top of them to confirm what to do.
2) Try different DMV
3) Get DMV’s fax number and next time they ask you for a document, fax it and call them to confirm they received the document.

Thank you Sophia. It has been very frustrating

I got five years valid AB 60 driver license recently. When I apply I have only approval and the rest is pending. If you’re living in California and married to Us citizen you will get DL. you have to show at least one year of rent contract and marriage license and pending USCIS forms that about it.

not all DMV does it and not all states does it as well I did mine in Orlando and I had to go to a specific DMV to have it done

Do you know if people without a legal status can get a driver license in Florida? Because in Nevada you can, that documents you need are Original Birth certificate and a translated copy of it, bills where you can prove your address, consular ID of your country of birth, and apply for the driving test at the DMV, you don't need a SSN for this, that's how I got my driver license before I applied for adjustment of status. Go to Google and type Driver Authorization Card Florida, I think you will get the info that you need

Just make sure you have everything they ask. And if you’re not sure about something, or if a document is missing, call them first and find out if you can still proceed before wasting another month.
If you have everything needed from their list and they say you’re still missing something, show them their own list of needed documents. I don’t think they know what is enough in these unusual situations. I’ve experienced unprofessionalism with both DMV and Social Services. They prefer to shut you down instead of investing time to make sure that maybe you do qualify, it’s just an irregular case with different requirements.
I don’t think you need your uscis documents to be approved, you should be able to apply for AB60 immigrant drivers license while waiting for all your approvals. As long as you have SSN, a passport and few other documents from the list.

Thanks everyone for the info.
I also have a SS, that's why I can't understand why it is so difficult.

@bri do you have your work permit I-765? I think you need to have that to show that USCIS issued it.
What is written on your I-797 form? Is it saying case received and being reviewed? If it is being reviewed and not approved you wont be able to have certain benefits in Florida

You don’t need a work permit to receive an immigrant drivers license.

In a state like New York but I haven't seen that in Florida. Usually they ask for visa and if the visa is expired they would need an approved permit from USCIS

Unless your I-797 is asylum or refugee based approval. @Bri What is your priority date?

I am May 7th and I haven't received my permit yet. If your Visa is still active, you can get your license by submitting it to them (I-94)
