Does time spent under AOS count towards the three year residency requirement to apply for citizenship?
for example if I spent one year under AOS waiting for my marriage based green card, would I be eligible to apply for citizenship after two years of getting LPR status instead of three?
sorry if it’s a dumb question, I’m new to this process

@Neal Singh from the date you get an a approval that's the time your residency starts, so even thou your AOS is pending your not a residentas yet.

It is not a dumb question at all. The counting starts from the date that is written on your Green card.

I thought the date started from the day you got married until your third yr anniversary, then you can apply? 🤔

@S L no the three year requirements starts from the day you become a green card holder, not when you get married.

@S L the years of your marriage, they use that to give a 2yrs conditional or a 10yrs greencard
