I have no actual knowledge behind the logic of USCIS but a biometrics appointment being 6 months after receipt date is a stretch. I don’t know if the officer is working on your case in parallel assuming you’re going to do the biometrics appointment at some point in the future. After all, biometrics are needed to process your case completely

I haven’t received my biometrics appointment for three months and one week since filing my I-485. Did you complete your biometrics six months after submitting your I-485?

@K K Do you have a receipt notice? I got my biometric scheduled 9 days after my case was received by USCIS.

@Cat Dun How fast a decision would be made on I-485 depends on couple of factors including availability of visa, workload, if there are no red flags from your background checks, no RFE etc., so getting biometric appointment earlier does not guarantee faster decision on your case.

@Mish Mish USCIS received my package on Oct 22, I received e-notification of my receipt notice via text message on October 27. While I was waiting for receipt notice, I chatted with Emma ( live agent) gave me my online access code to link my case to my online accounts. I had my ASC appointment uploaded under document on my online account on Oct 31. My biometric was scheduled on October 31. I rescheduled my biometric to earlier date Nov 4th. Biometric was completed on Nov 4. I received physical mail of receipt notice in the mail mailbox on Nov 1 and Biometric on Nov 6th.

@Mish Mish, I didn’t apply for EAD. My H1B is valid for the next 3 years

@Mish Mish I received the Biometrics appointment letter under document tab in USCIS account. Though we applied together, my wife didn't receive the same? does it mean she is exempt from Biometrics or she will receive appointment for another day?
