I didn't include mine and ended up getting an RFE so just include them. Better to be safe than delay your processing.

@Ab Cd; for all of USCIS's faults, they do have some answers. Before blaming "several people" and their "contradictory answers", a quick look at https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-guidance/checklist-of-required-initial-evidence-for-form-i-485-for-informational-purposes-only clearly states I-864 Affidavit of Support https://www.uscis.gov/i-864 which asks for tax returns of household members. Or, you can wait for an RFE and then wait again.

You need to include I-864 and attach relevant tax related documents if filed under family based petition OR few employment based petition (except EB1A).

This is the best you'll get here; a rare IO can approve petitions despite weak and incomplete evidence, but most expect required or abundant evidence. @A O, with all due respect, it's most selfish if you'd rather no one receive support, because of a few lazy bums, when a wide majority of immigrants are hardworking. Show others what you did with their support, and then when you're in a position to help, pass it forward.
