DMV Cancellation of REAL ID
I recently received an email from the DMV stating that my REAL ID driver’s license would be canceled. I went to the DMV office today to update my documents; however, my green card has already expired, and I only have the extension letter from my filed Removal of Conditions. As a result, they canceled my REAL ID and issued me an AB-16 license instead. I would like to know if you’ve had a similar experience or how this was handled in your case.

@noy Pi What state is this? Whoever that did this to you is an idiot and you should really consider suing the state. You are a permanent resident even with an expired greencard and your extension letter clearly states that. This shit just pissed me off.

@noy Pi Take your expired greencard and your extension letter back to the dmv. Go to another branch and get your real id because you’re eligible for it. Ask for a supervisor if they give you any issues. Very very annoying!

@noy Pi your extension can be used for renewal. the expiration date would be the validity of the extension.. Ask for a supervisor. When I renewed mine, the person at the cubicle didn’t have a clue. The supervisor had to complete it

@noy Pi yep, California is tough with this. Before my GC came, I applied for just a standard state ID with my work authorization, it took over 4 months for them to issue it. They were waiting to hear from the department of homeland security.
