Djibouti Embassy
Hello again, Can anyone who have had their interviews done at the Djibouti Embassy share their experience? (CR1 or IR1 only) I’ve seen a lot of people who had theirs at that particular embassy be put in “Administrative Processing” for a very long time after the interview. Especially, married couples without kids apparently get put to AP and stay in that phase for months more than married couples who have kids. Therefore, I would very much appreciate it if people who have gone to the Djibouti embassy to do their Cr1 or Ir1 interviews share what happened after you finished with the interview. Thank you!

my husbands interview was on November 1st me and my husband have no kids they asked us all the questions for a normal interview then they questioned why we don’t have kids and we have been married for 4 years. they gave my husband a yellow slip to provide more proof of our relationship and put us under AP. we have been in AP for 70 days now and everytime I email them they reply the same automated AP response. I don’t know what more to do…it’s really discriminatory that they are suspicious of our relationship because we don’t have kids. this is in the same embassy Djibouti.

do you know how long ppl like my case stay under AP

I’ve seen people wait as little as 2 months and as long as 9 months. So it looks like every case is different in regards how long they are put in AP.

I’m not sure what will help as most people I’ve seen with similar cases are simply just waiting, but getting your senator involved might help if they get back to you. Do you mind me asking if both and your spouse were at the interview? Also, not sure if you or your spouse are the US citizen, but were they in the US before the interview or were they in Djibouti or wherever outside the US with the spouse waiting for the interview?

I don’t mind

my husband went from Yemen to Djibouti for his interview I am his wife a US citizen I wasn’t with him at the interview…he has never been in the US before I’m going on on 4 years now with his case ….my case was stuck for 2 years and half with USCIS before getting an approval …so my case was delayed with USCIS and now with the embassy. the consular asked my husband “ how come you have been married for 4 years and you don’t have any kids?” plus the last time I seen my husband was 2 years ago and they got suspicious of that so I had to show them more proof doctor notes explaining my infertility and every documentation I found I sent them

Okay thank you for sharing that helpful information. I really hope you guys get some good news soon and I would try calling your senator office as well and ask if they seen your email or if you can talk to someone who can help. Good luck!

@Ramona Aaron did you get a RFE during the USCIS process asking for more proof of marriage like photos, texts, calls? or did they only ask for more proof after interview? what proof are they asking for? makes no sense why not having kids is an issue. I’ve been married 5 years, 4 years in this process and we don’t have any kids. last time i saw him was in 2019, this was a problem when i was interviewed during USCIS process but I work full time so i can’t travel, but i sent them FaceTime photos 2 per month for the last couple years and then it was finally approved. my husband should be getting an interview in the coming months
Ramona AaronJan 22, 2023
@Sarah no I didn’t get an RFE during USCIS and I was surprised bc during the USCIS process they told me I will be getting an interview for me at my local state office to ask me about my relationship. but then they took forever so they said they no longer do interviews with USCIS and moved my husbands case after 2 years to NVC at the NVC they gave my husband a case number and an interview. he went to his interview on November 1st. after his interview they asked for more proof of relationship and the last time I seen my husband was 2 years ago.

I sent them FaceTime photos like you, chat history for the past 4 years, western union receipts, affidavits of supports from ppl who were at our wedding in Malaysia, medical reports, rental agreement of our trips in Egypt and Malaysia and more photos

@Ramona What state do you live in? in California the interviews are crazy, based on my own and a couple of friends, they want to know every detail a 2 hour long interrogation. Started this whole process on April 2019 and didn’t get approved until Febuary 2022. i went to the first interview and i waited 2 hours just for them to say sorry we overbooked and Yemeni interviews take too long. Then they scheduled another interview 6 months later and gave me a RFE then finally approved it. Now waiting at NVC for an interview. Tired of this whole process i know its frustrating but so many Yemeni’s lie so they make it harder for the ones that are actually telling the truth. If anything seems off they delay the process. Also most Yemeni couples have kids pretty quick after they get married that’s why it’s a red flag for them when couples don’t have any kids. hopefully everything works out for you and your husband. My friend stayed in AP for 6 months.

@Sarah I live in Michigan…I understand some days I can’t bear it and some days go by easy we just have to be patient…I agree some Yemenis who come in just for benefits and lie to the embassy do ruin it for others …it’s very sad I ask allah to make easy on everyone ya rab! ameen🥺
