Divorce during application process - CR1
We filed the I-130 14 months ago and ended up filing for divorce before USCIS made their decision. The divorce is not yet finalized, and a couple days ago, they approved the case. Obviously, I’m no longer seeking immigration at this point. Does anybody know how to proceed here? Should I let NVC know about the divorce and if yes, how?
In the email they sent about the case, it says that if you don’t file further documents within a year, the visa gets terminated automatically. I just don’t think waiting is the best option, considering I also need to apply for a tourist visa whenever I want to visit the US next time. I feel that disclosing the divorce from the very beginning would be the safest option to do so.
I’d appreciate any form of feedback here, thanks :)

At this point, if you are the one overseas, there’s no need going to declare you are divorced except or until you are applying for a US tourist visa and if they ask. And there’s nothing to do for now, you guys would just wait for that 1 year to come and go. No visa application or anything like that for now until the 1yr expires because the approval would still be active on their system.

where did you get married? is there any separation rule that is applied over there. meaning did you have to be separated for some time before the divorce?
consult an attorney.

@dee lawa we got married in the US and are getting divorced there too. we did a separation agreement after 6 months of separation. that’s not my issue though, I’m just wondering about how to stop the immigration process.
