divorce after filing Vawa
I filed Vawa in June of this year. i want to know if it’s safe for me to file for divorce now. Also does it matter what reason I provide the court for the divorce ? I just want a smooth divorce and no further problems with my wife. the reason for divorce is obviously abuse but I am not sure if I should mention that on the divorce application.

@Gull Kaan I filed divorce after I filed VAWA. Are you in NY & NJ region, there is a great lawyer that can file the divorce and communicate with your ex to get the signature.He is also affordable, mine is done in 3 weeks.

I don’t know why they say after approval. it’s already against WAVA. I mean who wants to stay married with an abbusive spouse? My lawyer told me to do it asap

I filled for divorce before my VAWA was approved. This week my green card was approved so I didn’t have any problem at all!

I got my divorce finalized couple months ago my lawyer said it was ok to file for divorce just can’t get Married again until vawa is approved.
