Credit Card
I’ve just started my job with h1b and got my social security number lately. So I would like to apply for a credit card but I’m worried that I don’t have a credit history. Has anybody been in the same situation as me? Which card did you make? Any other suggestions?

I recall that Discover card were not able to verify my identity and asked to upload a photo of my SSN card through secured link. Shortly after it was approved with $1000 credit limit. The worst case senario you start with Capital one card!

start with a secured card, where you pay a deposit (for example 300 usd) which is then your credit line. your credit score will go up with that pretty quickly and you can start looking into the Apple Card (they have a program where you can participate: when you show “good behavior”, aka fulfill their requirements of a couple of months you will automatically be approved). I started in May 2020 with literally no credit score and am now having an excellent one.

I built my initial credit score with a PayPal credit line of $500. after a few months of paying the PayPal bill on time, I had enough of a credit score and history that my bank gave me a credit card.
