I am currently going through this my OPT EAD expired yesterday and I faxed them twice last week with no response. Reached out to the congressman on Friday they just got back to me hopefully they approve it 🤞 Congratulations btw 🎉

congratulations, when did you reach out to congress and how long after did you get approved?

@N RL I first reached out to them on 04/28/23 and signed the privacy release form and submitted all the supporting documents on 05/01/2023. Haven't heard back from them. (It's so hard to reach out to them) So, I have been calling them almost everyday for the last two weeks asking for the update and emphasize to them that my EAD will expire very soon. Received an email from them on 05/23/23 saying that they have reached out to USCIS. Not sure if my case got approved with congress help or not. Definitely doesn't hurt to reach out to them. @Greg B thank you! It depends on what criteria you fall into when requesting for expediting. Mine was severe financial loss and I submitted all the proof including apartment rent, all the bills, car insurance, car loan, credit card statements, letter from employer saying that they can't continue hire me once my EAD expires, medical insurance. And I really emphasize that my company covers my medical insurance 100% (without having a full time job, I will be losing medical benefits as well) I have been using the medical benefits that my company provides to me and I submitted all the bills as evidence as well. What is your current status and what was your reson for expediting? How long have you been waiting for your EAD?

Thank you for your answer! I’m F1 STEM OPT, except my EAD expired earlier this month. I’m 55 days in and waiting for an answer from my expedite (I have pending job offer).

Yes I have and I submitted all docs 2 weeks ago now. I haven’t heard from them since.

approved may 17 and 1 week later I received my work permit
