Citizenship ‎Question ‎( ‏Please ‎don’t ‎answer ‎if ‎you’re ‎not ‎sure ‎from ‎your ‎answer ‎)
I received the green card after 3 years and the Green Card residential day is the same Green Card issue date which is May 2019 but I entered US in 2016 as refugee. Am I eligible for citizenship? depending entrance date? or I have to wait more 5 years depending on the date it’s says resident in the Green Card?

your clock starts counting down from the date you became a Resident. A Green card holder. so your stat date is May 2019😪 sad but you are fine.

As per general practice you should have received your Green Card in 2017 with an issuance date of 2017 if you had entered USA in 2016. seems like you applied for a Green Card late that’s why USCIS issued you Green Card in 2019. So according to your date of issuance of Green card in May,2019 you will be eligible to apply for a Citizenship 4 years and 9 months after that date as per law.

Abbas I applied after year since I entered and I wasn’t late at all, but it took along time for no reason and the date of the residency supposed to be the entrance date for refugee people but my case date was different .

@naturalization Question : then dear you might want to consult an immigration Lawyer at your earliest convenience and file an application for a correction of residence date at you Green Card. This would make you eligible to apply for Naturalization at this year i.e. 2021

Thanks guys but after I read on the USCIS I found out that the refugee residency count from the date entered the United States and didn’t rely exclusively on the date on the green card. According to the regulations 209.1
