Changing Lawyer Before International Travel
My case has been pending since Feb 2022 with no RFE or major update. I recently contacted my Congressman as well, but received the same general USCIS update.
My current lawyer is not responding promptly, so I’m considering changing attorneys. However, I’m planning to travel internationally in 1–2 months for about 45 days.
Is it safe to change lawyers before traveling? Once the new attorney files the required paperwork, will USCIS/CBP records show the new attorney during re-entry, or could my old attorney still appear?
Has anyone changed lawyers shortly before traveling while their case was pending?

You should consult with a lawyer. This is not a legal advice. But is best to not travel unless it has to do with medical e.g parent . if it is for pleasure stay put. Also you can file mandamus if your case is over processing time

@o o - Thanks for your response! I totally understand that it’s not recommended to travel under current situation. But due to emergency circumstances I intend to travel. Also I’ve travelled so far 3 times with advance parole.

@o o My only concern - Is it Okay to change the attorney at this moment or just stay with the existing attorney.
I’ll further check legally - but hoping some answers if anyone has done this so far.

if it is an emergency that you have to be there yourself you need to consult with your lawyer. and if you have someone to represent you where you are going. I would advise you to not (not a legal advise) As for lawyer anyone can change lawyer at anytime. But to me having a lawyer should not stop you from also fighting for your case. when I did congressman I did it myself. I only updated the lawyer. same as my friend. and for mandamus same thing my friend just updated the lawyer cause her case was 6 years. and these lawyers have too many case and they dont answer you promptly
