change of name
Hi all, need some advice. I want to change my name to previous married name. I am on my second marriage but it was very violent and I filed vawa. I have gotten my EAD CO9 only but I want to change to my previous married name not my maiden name for personal reasons. I want to know how to go about it. I came here on my previous married name. please any advice on how to go about it pr has anyone gone through this process?

if you are going or planning to get divorce in this second abusive marriage, then in your divorce paperwork you will have option to change your name and use whatever you want to use

Thank you somuch for the response. so please how do I get to notify uscis so subsequent eads and gc are printed in the new name

you will probably have to first update your name in your govt issued ids so that you can use that as a proof and send to uscis, its better that you consult with a legal representative about this

when I filled for VAWA I filed it in my maiden name because I didn’t want my abusive husbands last name on my green card when I get it, that’s what an immigration judge told me to do. and then I explained in the section on the VAWA form for extras why Im filing under my maiden name and not my married name. I think as long as you have documentation in your former married name you should be fine, just include that in your packet.
