Case transferred to USCIS field office but no update on interview
My receipt date is 5 November 2024 for form I-730 and on 8 Jan 2025, my case was transferred to USCIS International Operations for further processing. On April 1, 2025 I received the case transfer notice that my case is transferred to New Delhi Field office and they’ll send me interview instructions. It has been 100 days and I have not received any update. Did anyone recently get any interview? #I-730

Thank you for sharing your timeline. I understand it can be very frustrating to wait for a long time after your case was transferred. USCIS does not have a fixed number of days to schedule the interview after transfer, especially for I-730 cases, and delays can happen depending on the embassy workload and the field office's coordination with the NVC. Some I-730 applicants receive interview appointments within 45–70 days, while others may wait 90–120+ days, especially if the embassy is very busy or affected by administrative limitations. Please keep checking your mail and email inbox. You're not alone — many are in the same situation. Hopefully, your interview notice will arrive very soon.

@vivek patel Yes! Got a new notice saying that case is transferred from NVC to USCIS New Delhi. To allow 8 weeks for the notice to reach that office and then they’ll schedule the interview and give info. My parents received this notice in USA on 24 July but on the notice is says that the notice has been issued since 17 May. So my interview will be scheduled any day now. Hoping for the best. Did you get any update?

@kartik gupta I did send an enquiry through a congressman that serves my parents’ county. They sent the enquiry on 1 August and according to them they’ll get a reply in 60 days. Hopefully I get an update or this may speed up the process.

@Arpan Kaur -- did you get an interview notice? I hope you did! If so when did you get it? Is it via email or mail? Your transfer notice was dated April 1, 2025. How long did it take to get the interview notice?? would appreciate your timeline please!

@EL Lei No, I still didn’t get interview notice.

@Arpan. That is unfortunate! Since you received Transfer Notice to USCIS field office New Delhi on April 1, 2025 until today it has been 260 days then! Did you get a Transfer Notice from NVC with Case number? CEAC should say "Ready" if you did.

@Arpan - I may be able to suggest a few things if you share a few details about your case with me. I came across a similar case like yours (New Delhi field Office) and I'll be happy to recommend a few actions they took that practically worked. My case was also transferred to New Delhi field office on September 24, 2025 and I am still waiting for interview email.

@EL Lei Yes I did get the case number are CEAC does say ready. but I didn’t get any email. Can you help me what I should do?

@Arpan - Ask your petitioner to file a mandamus lawsuit at federal district court! If you do a little research you can do it on your own (it is called "Pro se" litigation). I have had to also file the same for another petition with the USCIS. It's straight forward and can be done without hiring a lawyer. You've done all you can from your end (contacting USCIS multiple times, including via Congressman/woman) so the lawsuit will not even go to trial. USCIS will start working on your case once you file the lawsuit and served.

Arpan kaurDec 19, 2025
@EL Lei Is my timeline delayed enough to file for mandamus? just want to confirm.
E
Exile USADec 19, 2025
USCIS published historical data showed that in 2025, processing i-730 on average has been taking about 11 months. Look it up online. Your petition has been pending for more than a year since receipt notice. Federal Judge may consider that as "unreasonably delayed" given that the petition is for family reunion. In any case, by the time court sends lawsuit summons to USCIS, your case will be pending for additional 2-3 months.

@EL Lei can you help me to file it?
E
Exile USADec 29, 2025
@Arpan i can point you in the right direction but i'm afraid i can't help you file because that would be giving you legal advice. Your petitioner in the US should file it on your behalf. If you have updates, please do share!
