As long as there is a supplement j and a valid job offer letter you should be good. You don’t have to work till you receive your GC. But be prepared to be grilled, they will question you why aren’t you working, will tell you are trying to defraud USCIS. Just tell them by law you don’t have to work till benefit is received and USCIS policy states the same in the website so you are going by the statutory that’s present in their website.

@frosty soccer today my case status also got changed from CRP to Case is ready to be scheduled for Interview. Did you receive the notice letter in your mailbox? how long it usually takes? and how far is the interview date out?

update: Interview schdueld. and Yes by law you dont have to work for sponsor upon ead approval, it is future based sponsore meaning the petition is person will start working for sponsor upon approval of i-485. However there is the chance sponsor might deny you to help for suppliment J to confirm that job offer still exist coz you dont join them on ead but again that is upto sponsor but from uscis law perspective there is no such law that you have to start on ead and this i had confirmed with my law firm before taking decision to not join sponsor in ead approval. and yes I was in touch with sponsor, they send me the suppliment J, i know uscis will grill me and check my intend to join sponsore which i do, but having signed suppliment J from employer boost my confident. wish me good luck

@frosty soccer thanks for sharing this. you are right that its a future job, but in my opinion main thing is to show intent, which one can show start working with employers once get the EAD. if someone didn’t use their EAD until after got gc, that will be fine. but if someone is been using it for any other job but for sponsor, then it might be an issue.

@Eb3 waiting no, they didnt ask that, they ask me if i am intrested on the job, what is my plan for relocation, how long are you planning to work. and Yes my case was approved on dec4th. I am in touch with my sponsor and will start working by mid OF JAN

I answered its permanent full time job and theres no clause that i have to work till this time but I would work till meaning ful time till my sponsore needs me.
when will you start working- i will atleast need a month to relocate, finalize lease and even onboarding preparation on sponsor side, but will join asap and reasonable time would be 1/2 mnths from approval
