Case Approved #N400 #I-175
I began my immigration journey in April 2017. I received my two-year conditional Green Card in October 2018 but, unfortunately, went through a painful divorce. In July 2020, I applied for the I-751 to remove the conditions on my Green Card. However, my case was not approved by June 2023. In November 2023, I applied for N400 based on the 5-year rule. After enduring a rollercoaster of emotions, including frequent calls to USCIS about my I-751 case, struggling with depression, and patiently waiting for 7 years, I finally received good news. My immigration journey came to an end on July 26th, 2024, when I applied for N400 in November, received my case notification on June 20th, had my interview scheduled for July 25th, had a combo interview, and got approved instantly. I had my Oath ceremony scheduled for the next day, July 26th, at the Irving, Texas, office. I am now in the process of receiving my blue passport.
Thank you to everyone who shared their own story that kept me hopeful that one day I will share mine. #I-175 #n400

was the combo interview done with your spouse or just you only
God’s SpeedAug 20, 2024
I had a combined interview by myself. During the interview, I was asked about the reasons for my divorce and who filed for it. I also presented documents proving that my marriage was legitimate before I got divorced.
I was asked just 4 questions for form N400:
1. When did America gain independence?
2. Who were the writers of the Constitution?
3. Name three states that were part of the original 13 colonies.
4. What is the significance of Constitution Day?
Afterward, I had a reading test where I was asked to read "What do we pay to the government?" shown on the iPad, and a written test where I had to respond in writing on the same iPad, "We pay taxes to the government."
After the interview, I was asked if I was available to return the next day at 10 am for my Oath ceremony and I gladly said YES.
I forgot to mention the interviewer asked me if I wanted to change my photo on file(that is the one on my Green card), and I said yes. I was sent to the office where I snapped a new photo that will appear on my certificate.

@God’s Speed Do you know how long it took you to receive an update that your interview was scheduled vs getting the interview notice by mail?
God’s SpeedAug 27, 2024
@A J it usually 7-10 days before you receive the letter by mail, but your USCIS account to see the letter
k kAug 28, 2024
@God’s Speed did they deny your I751? you did not get any extension letter or stamp in your passport?
God’s SpeedAug 30, 2024
@k k No, my case I-751 was never denied. I was given 24 months extension, after it expired i was given the I-551 temporary stamp for traveling the last for 12 months, until I applied for my N-400. The I-551 stamp was due to expire September 2024.

congrats! did you have to notify USCIS after you got divorced?
God’s SpeedSep 4, 2024
@0 1 No, I didn't notify USCIS of my divorce until I filled to removed conditions for 2 years Green Card which is I-751 which I included my divorce decree document.
