I have a quick question my friend. Did you by chance submit a medical with the application? I'm asking because I didn't and I'm wondering if that's why I gave received Biometrics yet
Sa BeFeb 24, 2022
We didn’t send in our medical with our applications (only when we received an RFE for it) however hat biometrics around two months after we submitted our documents (without medical). So there’s not correlation.
domino 22Feb 24, 2022
hero : I do send i-693 together with the I-485. it’s personal choice. u can do either way. an both way has nothing to do with biometric
Sa BeFeb 24, 2022
I should however mention that you need biometrics done for the AP. So if you want AP, you need to have biometrics done (but biometrics doesn’t have to do with the medical).
Iam HeroFeb 24, 2022
Ok thanks much. I received a deficiency notice for the medical does that in itself constitutes RFE or do they specifically request medical in a RFE?
Sa BeFeb 24, 2022
We got an RFE specifically for the medical. It said RFE online and the letter in detail mentioned the medical.
Iam HeroFeb 24, 2022
Oh ok everything is clearer now thanks

N MFeb 24, 2022
@Iam Hero My lawyer he told me to do it And did that but alot lawyers Said We dnt send medical with application They said USCIS gona Ask For medical again But you know We need to send them all Decoments At the same time Because It reduce The chance of The RFE
Iam HeroFeb 24, 2022
@N M Exactly what I was thinking
Sa BeFeb 24, 2022
Well, the medical is only good for a certain time. When we submitted it was two years. We are coming up on two years and currently that’s definitely more normal to wait this long. So if we would have submitted it together and we are over the two years you need to get medicals again (and pay again). For a family of three that’s almost 1000 USD. I *think* they now extended it, but only last year at some point.
Iam HeroFeb 24, 2022
@Sa Be Ok gotcha. So they're 2 sides to the coin from what I'm seeing. There is a risk of having to do medical twice if submited early but there is also possibility of reducing delays in processing. In a case like yours the risk is much greater so certainly prudent not to submit when it's for multiple especially if you're anticipating lengthy processing by default.
Sa BeFeb 25, 2022
I don’t think an RFE prolongs your GC by much. It tools is exactly four weeks to get them the medical and that was only because we were on vacation for a week. if it’s only the medical they need, it won’t defer your case.

we were just informed by our lawyer that USCIS recently changed their policy and they’re processing EAD and travel permits separately to clear the backlog in EAD’s. even if you filled together, you might not get a combo card.
Iam HeroFeb 25, 2022
@marco Thanks for the update. Hopefully that means EAD comes faster for all

Practice Alert: USCIS Decoupling Adjudication of EADs and Advance Paroles to Expedite EAD Issuance AILA Doc. No. 22022403 | Dated February 24, 2022 Over the last several days, AILA has received numerous reports from members that they are receiving approved employment authorization documents (EADs) that do not include advance parole (AP) travel authorization, even though the applicant had requested both benefits. When an applicant requested both an EAD and advance parole, USCIS had previously been issuing "combination cards" that included both employment and travel authorization in one document. AILA has been advised by USCIS that the processing change is intentional as the agency is working through the EAD backlog and is prioritizing EAD adjudication as it seeks to avoid applicants experiencing a lapse or prolonged lapse in employment authorization. At present, there is no additional information available on the scope or duration of this procedural change. AILA will reach out to USCIS to obtain more information about current EAD and advance parole adjudication procedures and provide updates as soon as they are available. Please note that even though an AP and EAD maybe adjudicated and issued together, USCIS is not obligated to do so.
