Can I switch job immediately after getting green card?
My employer filed my EB1B petition and I am waiting for my I-485 approval. I am wondering if I can switch job immediately after getting my green card.

As my attorney told me it would be safer to stay with your employer for 6months. If you mean switching jobs within your employer that would be fine but if you are switching employer you might have to think it over as this would trigger problems on your naturalization.

no such rule written anywhere which poses problem during naturalization. Attorneys are on employer’s payroll generally, and they like to scare employees with the 180 days rule. The only 180 day rule that does exist is related to your I-140 approval. If your I-140 was in approved status for more than 180 days with the same employer,, feel free to switch, no issues.

Nothing wrong with switching employers but having that relationship with your sponsor is a big deal during n-400 interview.

@J A not true at all @Skeletal Remains - thank you - people want to scare others for no reason!

Well its really up to people to seek an advice but I would rather be safe than sorry so I am following my attorney’s advice and I got few people as an example that got in trouble during their naturalization process. As I have said you can change employers but their is a proper way of doing it and the right timing.
