@Yas I My friend’s lawyer gave wrong information about the I-485 filing too because her lawyer wanted her to pay the filing fee since the lawyer was charging extra to file i-485 and of course then it gets denied and then the lawyer has already gotten paid her processing fee. Just to hit the nail on the head: if your immigration benefits belong to EB2-NIW category, then you are not current and you need to take off your shoes and run away from your attorney who advised you to submit your application.
