Call From Department of Homeland Security
My green card is under process. I had to get my visa status R1 renewed so that my status is valid during this time. My R1 got approved in Sep 2023. But today somebody from Department of Homeland Security called my sponsor and then half an hour later she called me regarding this R1 application that was submitted in July 2023. Her voice message says she wants a call back. Has anyone experienced something like this ?? It just doesn't feel right.

i don't think so uscis will ever call u, they never make call looks like fake call

check your online account to see if there's some updates. I don't think DHS will contact you by phone like that. beware of that call cause there's a lot of scammers who seeking for sensitive information.

@An N I have heard they have been calling a small number of individuals, however, most of their communication is done through email or by letter.

They actually call to come into the church for verification, sometimes every 5 years. This happened to me, the officer called the lead pastor that he is coming to the church or already at the church (can’t remember). He went around the facility and asked about me.

@TRS Hopefully yes while they are reviewing the R1 visa but mine has been approved in Sep 2023. So it did not make sense that somebody called about the application in July for the same visa. weird part was the number looked like a US number not even and 800number but below the number it said India. how weird is that ?!

@An N They called my sponsor. They wanted to know my duties and he requested that the church tax status documentation, my certificates and qualifications etc should be sent to them. Just a repeat of what I submitted when I renewed my R1. After submission, I got another notification that my R1 has been approved.

they called my attorney and called me too. yes, it’s possible.
