Biometrics question
Hello all I got my conditional green card back in April 2023, this year, but unfortunately, we’re divorced and now I’m removing the conditions on my own. So the question is, I’m traveling to my home country next month, and I’m filing forms this month, what happens if I get a biometrics appointment when I’m not here? I was given biometrics back in 2021 for a conditional green card, will USCIS request biometrics again? If yes, I won’t be here in the US during that time, any options? Suggestions? The help would be greatly appreciated. #biometrics #i751 #conditionalgreencard #uscis #timeline

my recommendation: don’t travel until you get your situation resolved. the fact that you divorced while having a conditional card puts your eligibility for the permanent resident status in strong risk. contact lawyer asap or you can get deported if don’t do this right

Yup, I agree what Daniel said. Try getting your situation resolved before moving out of the country. I think it will be easier. If you move out before it might work out for you, but may not be as easy. USCIS May or May not request biometrics, each case is different.

more than likely you will need new biometrics especially in your situation

@John Overton if your conditional green card expires in April 2025, you file to remove conditions in January 2025. They will reject your case. I believe you can remove conditions early only if your spouse is deceased

He can apply at any time bc he is divorced. I will send the application, and USCSI will answer very quickly if they require the biometrics. they sent me the notification in 1 week. or you can send it later when you return.

I was in the same situation as you. they reused my biometrics. I went to my home country and my lawyer said we can apply before you leave, but i decided to apply when I came back. I went for 3 months after divorce with my former husband. no issues. after I applied it took them I would say 6 months to send updates about biometrics

please, if you guys don’t know for a fact - don’t comment. 1) you can apply as soon as you got your divorce 2) you can travel even after divorce with your conditional gc 3) doesn’t mean you have to do your biometrics, they might reuse it. 4) don’t scare people with “you can get deported “ if you don’t know about case procedure @Daniel S have a good day!

@aria stark Thanks Aria. Exactly, I don’t have to wait to remove the conditions, I can apply anyday to remove the conditions since I’m divorced. @Daniel S Comeon man, do you work at the port of entry? I asked question about the biometrics but not the traveling and all. I can travel anywhere since I have conditional greencard. All I need to prove the case on my own since I’m divorced , and for that you need to have enough evidence to prove the case. @S v @child of grace @Oliver WP @Viv Biko Thanks

@Daniel S It’s not about getting aggressive, it’s all about providing wrong information to all people here. But I understand your point, thanks for your help.

we are here to help and support each other, Don't scare people unnecessary. You can apply anytime so far you didn't get your the 10 before you turn in your divorce waiver and even if you didn't in before, what you would need is just explanation on why your marriage ended.
