Attorney fees - green card marriage based
How much do you pay for immigration lawyers? is $3000 reasonable? I talked to a lawyer. he will prepare and file forms for us. he will help us until I485 gets approved. I’m out of status so I need a lawyer.

sooooooo reasonable
Klau SJan 25, 2022
I paid 3,000.00 back in 2018 now is more
Lorin KellJan 25, 2022
being out of status is forgiven if you are married to a US citizen

we have the same situation but i did mine without a lawyer. hoping that not having one will not affect the process. we have a real marriage and we live for 2 years and we have one child. and now im still waiting 😂 since july 7
domino 22Jan 25, 2022
if your case is straight forward and you are willing to do research online, you can do it yourself.
Klau SJan 25, 2022
that's also truth if it's not complex
sergio rosalesJan 25, 2022
i did it without one, it only took me 5 month to get my combo card havent gotten an rfe, my pd is july 22
D DJan 25, 2022
@sergio were you out of status? what visa were you on?
domino 22Jan 25, 2022
most people just “scared”, sometimes their English is not that great and they don’t like to do research, so for that kind of people it’s better to hire lawyer. but have to make sure that the lawyer is good one, so many bad lawyer out there. I’m my understanding it always the best to educate yourself as this is your case
Lorin KellJan 25, 2022
@Domino domino that's great advice
D DJan 25, 2022
i came here on j1 visa. I applied for change of status to f1. Uscis sent RFE but I don’t want to respond since they ask me to prove that I will go back to my country after studying. it doesn’t make sense bc I’m getting married and staying here with my spouse, a US citizen. the timing is very important now bc the due date for RFE is on Feb 9.
D DJan 25, 2022
I don’t mind to file myself but my case is very sensitive since my marriage date is after they sent RFE
sergio rosalesJan 25, 2022
@ D D yes i was i overstayed my visa back in 2011 i came with a B2 Visa and last year with my wife US citizen, decided to adjust my status
domino 22Jan 25, 2022
DD ; if you are not so sure, hire a good lawyer. do some research to make sure that the lawyer know exactly what he’s talking about. make sure he is a real lawyer and not just pararegal. $3000 is normal fee
sergio rosalesJan 25, 2022
we watched a lot of helpful videos on youtube, and at the end it came out not being that hard
D DJan 25, 2022
yeah. a person recommended me to a lawyer. i talked to the lawyer this afternoon. he seems very responsive and knowledgeable. i talked to some before and they didn’t reply my email quick, they just want me to make an appointment to pay fees. the lawyer I talked to this morning answered all my concerns with information on USCIS website so I can research. I asked fees and he said $3000
domino 22Jan 25, 2022
i will say go for it and trust your gutt. good luck !
Klau SJan 25, 2022
get a consultation is better to paid $100.00 with a lawyer and explained all your situation , they will tell you what's better

I did it through lawyer and paid $2600 now I regret it. Lawyers cant do shit. I have been waiting over 7 months for my EAD/AP and all he says its normal processing he cant do anything. I did my own research to expedite the case but still no changes. if I were to do it again I'd save and do it myself unless you're completely illiterate then maybe get a lawyer

i paid $3000 and saved myself the headache of filling out the forms.plus, she will go with us to the interview.
domino 22Jan 25, 2022
JC : lawyer can’t make the process is faster. that’s all USCÌS. i like to research and learn and can do it myself but not everyone can do the same thing. so back to the person
domino 22Jan 25, 2022
Ana : lawyer can come with you to the interview but can’t help you answer the case . they just “observing”

I think that’s pretty normal these days due to covid
s
selcuk hascelikJan 25, 2022
how to notify me
W
Waiting PatientlyJan 25, 2022
you should receive a receipt # in the mail and you go on uscis website and track your status but sometimes that isn’t accurate so be sure to check ur mail for correspondence
s
selcuk hascelikJan 25, 2022
I'm constantly checking my inbox but nothing my status still received
W
Waiting PatientlyJan 25, 2022
you’ll hear something soon, unfortunately the past month was a write off in many industries due to high covid cases and I’m sure uscis was affected too.

tank you so much bro
V
Vanessa TaylorJan 25, 2022
as most have said - definitely worth it! they answer any of your questions and can suggest how to answer certain questions asked by the uscis . they also come with you to the interview which if you for some reason panic and say dumb stuff they can help you with Not tanking your case. we paid a little more than that and I’m happy we did because they handled all the paper work and all I had to do was show up to the interview !
s
selcuk hascelikJan 25, 2022
yes l will do it l agree with you something we need contact with the uscis
L LMJan 25, 2022
i did mine by myself with no lawyers, my I-130 and EAD already approved. The forms are more simple now…
D DJan 25, 2022
@Vanessa that’s what I’m afraid. i get panicked very easily even tho I don’t do anything wrong. when I face government officers I feel like I’m going to die 😅 did you get green card?
D DJan 25, 2022
also @Vanessa! did you provide photos as evidence?
Kristine krisJan 25, 2022
go ahead and do it your self
V
Vanessa TaylorFeb 3, 2022
@D D we are going to the interview next week but I’m pretty confident all is going to be well. yes, we will bring photos . from our lawyers experience uscis love photos !

hiya guys.. I am filing motion to reopen my case, and the lawyer is requesting $4000 as his fee.. I think that is high.. what do u think , based on ur experiences, any information is highly appreciated
Klau SMar 21, 2022
he must likely need to re file and thats the same as filling a new case, I think its fair
Hibaq MohMar 23, 2022
Klau S, thank you...I signed the contract with the lawyer yesterday, he is fair, only wanted 1000 now, the rest 250 installment monthly.. wish me luck.. I heard that motion to reopen sometimes takes months..
