Asylum-Based I-485 Interview – Still Waiting
Hi everyone,
I had my asylum-based I-485 interview at the Los Angeles Field Office on July 14, 2026.
The interview went well, and the officer said everything looked good. Before we left, he mentioned that he was ready to approve the case, but he couldn’t do it at that moment because he was waiting for the background check to be completed.
It’s now been about three weeks, and I still haven’t received any updates. My online status hasn’t changed, and the last update on my USCIS account is still from my biometrics in December 2024.
Has anyone had a similar experience after an asylum-based I-485 interview? How long did it take to get a decision after the interview?

I am still waiting for approval. I had my interview done on July 17th.everything went well,now they are taking forever,hope for best.

can you please share what questions were asked in the interview?was it related to the info on the I485 or the officer asked asylum case related questions as well?

yesterday I saw a video on tiktok where somebody says that receive approval couple days ago after interview in april 2026. that case was based on refugee

@SPECIALIST American Dream Revise your I-485 application they gonna ask you questions from that application and for extra safety revise your asylum story too they might ask you some questions from there ,if you traveled on I-131 keep all the proofs they will ask you for sure about that trip and proof ,simple and easy.
