Here are steps to reach out:
1. Find who your U.S. Senators are.
- Use your state’s government website, or congress.gov, or Senate.gov to identify the two U.S. Senators who represent your state.
2. Use the “Help with Federal Agency / Immigration / Casework” page.
- Most senators have a section on their website for “Casework,” “Immigration assistance,” or “Help with a federal agency.”
On that page they often provide a form you can fill out, or instructions on how to submit a request. Sometimes you can also call the office.
3. Submit privacy release / authorization.
- Senator’s casework offices almost always need a signed release so they can get information from immigration agencies.
4. Write a clear request
- Explain your situation, give all case details, ask what you want (status update? expedite? clarification?), and include any proof/documentation.
5. Follow up
- After you submit, allow some time (often a few weeks). If you don’t hear back, follow up with their office politely.
