Approval!
got my I-485 approval on 3/15. sharing timeline below in case it helps.
9/11/2024 - I-140 and I-485 received.
9/25/2024 - I-140 approved (premium processing)
10/7/2024 - biometrics appointment.
10/8/2024 - case status changed to being “actively reviewed”
2/21/2025 - case transferred to non local field office (Santa Ana) as per Emma.
3/14/2025 - received an email as “an action has been taken on your case” but there was no update in the account.
3/15/2025 - received an identical email , logged in and saw the status as approved . a courtesy notice was also available for download in the documents tab .
some relevant information:
1. received notice for both myself and my spouse on the same day. still waiting for dependent child.
2. Category - EB1-C. country of origin - India.
3. priority date 12/22/2014 (from previous I-140 submitted through EB2).
4. previously the priority date was set as receipt date ie 9/11/2024 instead of 12/22/2014. I submitted a typographical error service request to correct the priority date.
5. Lawfully didn’t have any status update and still shows as pending after more than 30 hours since the approval noted in the portal.
6. I regularly checked the usciscaseext.com - it gave a very good indicator of how many applications within your block were processed and total percentage of applications approved.
7. I was just lucky that the field office approved in about 3 weeks. Most field offices take 2-8 weeks to make a decision.
8. I did not receive any RFE . submitted our birth certificates (in English fortunately since country of origin is India) and medical exam I-693 along with the 485 application l.
9. in case it’s relevant , we did not have our infant take Covid vaccine. However, USCIS no longer requires COVID vaccine to be taken by applicants.
please feel free to ask me any questions. I am happy to answer based on my experience.

battling giantsMar 18, 2025

@k b looking at the range that I have seen posts in Reddit and here . there a few cases that got transferred to field office in Dec / Jan and are still pending approval . it’s also based on USCIS response . NBC processing time is 6 months , total processing time is 12.5 months for 80% applications. so field office is 6.5 months processing time . since employment based mostly don’t have interviews , timeline gets shortened .

@neuron ah all the very best. I reached out to Emma every week atleast once . I used the case update api to see the last update date . I noticed a last update date change in December , January , February. many times Emma lied to me and said case is in field office . I would message them again and then hear case was still in NBC. however , when i noticed case change on Feb 19,2025 I asked them and got Santa Ana field office . in my experience if Emma replies in all caps, it’s a high likelihood that it’s accurate- because they have copy pasted the field office details from internal portal into the chat . also don’t believe Emma the first time , If two or three Emma’s say the same info then it’s likely it’s true . also being very courteous does help

@lk s even I have same error. On account access notice, PD was reflecting receipt date whereas the 485 receipt reflects correct PD. my attorney said , that is ok, as the one on 485 receipt is correct and considered. infact, I got a rfe that tells that they have started to review which shows that PD on 485 is correct and acted upon.
Cricket SmileMar 18, 2025
@battling giants When you are talking about EMMA, do you refer to an automated answering bot or a live agent when we access Emma?
battling giantsMar 18, 2025
@H P in my case both were wrong . good that you have RFE that means they are looking at your case .
live agent - that’s a human who shares their ID code .
yoo okMar 19, 2025
mine transferred to a field office in NY but I live in Georgia what does it mean?
Cricket SmileMar 19, 2025
@battling giants I have never received feedback from emma. always a agent id comes in and share me the link of the uscis and disconnects. will try again.
battling giantsMar 20, 2025
@yoo ok most likely this means no interview for you.
battling giantsMar 20, 2025
@H P ask them what’s my case location. they answer no other question I asked.
Cricket SmileMar 20, 2025
thanks @battling giants
lol loMar 24, 2025
four Emma agents said my case transfers to Albany field office one said it’s still with nbc and all said four that said case was transferred told me system doesn’t show any interview being scheduled nor waived and said interview is not decided yet to be waived or no my question is that is it possible NBC transfer case without determining that case needs interview or waive the interview also Albany is not my local field office
battling giantsMar 27, 2025
@lol lo whether to have interview or not is a field office call. by default it may show as waived but field office can always request for an interview. however , if it’s non field office , chances of an interview diminish . I hope you get your approvals soon.

@battling giants congratulations! when did you submit the typographic error request? do you think that might have expedited your case?
