AOS accepted but does not meet requirement?
Hello everyone, yesterday we were finally DQed and got an E-Mail that the interview will be scheduled. We also got a message on ceac.state.gov saying: “This case does not meet the minimum requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://NVC.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/I-864p.” This message came a few seconds before we got DQed which I don’t understand. They also say they have everything to schedule an interview. Also: in our profile all documents for the AOS have been accepted and the status in the profile for the AOS is also “accepted”? Also: my husband is my sponsor and makes more than double the required minimum income so I don’t quite understand why we got this message? Can anyone help or has experience with this? Do we still need a joint sponsor?

@Laura R I think you should submit an inquiry and let them know this is you received and ask them what it means.

They might have accidentally just placed your AOS in different status which generates the automated message. Definitely inquire about it but I would be pretty confident it was just a mistake if you were documentarily qualified seconds after the message :)

the message ask you to bring an affidavit of support from a jiont sponsor when coming for the interview. if you can still submit to NVC, do so and come to interview wt it as well

@Laura R when did you submit your docs?
Laura RApr 28, 2023
@Mike sarp we now did. because I have seen other people having gotten the same message even though they l already had a joint sponsor… super weird
Laura RApr 28, 2023
@I K it really seems that way
Laura RApr 28, 2023
@Jane Frances I know that that’s what they’re asking but it doesn’t make sense because we don’t need a joint sponsor. My husband makes more than double the minimum required income and has proven it already…

@Yessi O We submitted all our documents on 04/15/23

We got an answer quickly, here it is: “To Whom it Concerns: This case is documentarily complete, which means the NVC has all the documents we requested. Your application is waiting for an interview appointment, where a consular officer will adjudicate it. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate provides the National Visa Center (NVC) with a list of available appointment dates and times. We will schedule your case for an interview appointment when an appointment date is available. We schedule appointments on a first in, first out basis. After we schedule your appointment, we will forward your case to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in FRANKFURT We cannot predict how long it will take to schedule your appointment, but we will notify the applicant, the petitioner, and your attorney (if applicable) when an appointment is scheduled. Your case will stay at NVC until that time. For the most up-to-date information about the operating status of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate, please visit their website at https://usembassy.gov. Information about preparing for interview appointments is available at these websites: https://nvc.state.gov/prep https://nvc.state.gov/prep/espanol Important: Do not make travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment until the U.S. Embassy or Consulate issues a visa.”

To be honest, I’m a little unsure what this has to do with our question since we didn’t ask about our interview appointment but about the AOS.. At this point we just added another joint sponsor, just in case :)

seems to be a standard message at the moment, ignore it and just make sure you have all the evidence required when you go to the interview. Search Visa Journey forum to see how often this message is getting sent out at the moment! Good luck.

Yes, it sounds like a precaution. A lot of people online say that they got an additional sponsor and didn’t need it in the end but that’s ok. We now have another sponsor just in case and will make sure to have everything at the embassy. Thanks to everyone!

All of my documents were accepted, however, I still kept getting the same message, saying that that income requirement is an insufficient. even though everything else was OK. I did send an inquiry asking about what I should do. I was told to submit another affidavit of support. I submitted it and 10 days later, my case was closed and completed. DQed February 22, 2023 and still waiting for an interview date.
