I-824 takes so long to get approved as far as I know you have to wait so long for it …

@menuka, that’s not a good news. Do you know someone who has gone through this type of situation or you’re just guessing based on processing timeline?

i824 apply gareko kati din ma aayo tapaiko receipt notice.My mail package was delivered to chicago 10 days ago and I'm yet to receive any notification and case id from uscis. USCIS basically has blinded me of my case.

@Aaravi, Did you file G-1145 for text and email notification? I’ve received text notification in a week but it took me around 3 weeks to get receipt notice in the mailbox.

@Aaravi looks like this type of cases are growing up recently and uscis is taking time to send receipt notice. It took 11 days for one of my friends.

This system is so annoying. We’ve already filed I-130A which clearly says where the beneficiary is and they’re still asking us to file I-824. This is crap. @Oumou, if your I-797 receipt says that you will need to file I-824, please don’t waste your time. Just download the form the send it to them asap and keep trying other options. I’ve heard some people have been successful to send their approved I-130 to NVC while I-824 is pending. This immigration system is a joke so can’t say anything how they’re going to handle it. They don’t care about our time, all they want is money :(

Tek I don’t know I file I130 I don’t hv I797 my receipt said my case is been retained u til I file the I824.And am confuse I call a guy fromUSCIS yesterday n he said he will advice I do what the receipt said

@Oumou - download the form https://www.uscis.gov/i-824 and fill it out. It’s not too difficult. Let me know if you get stuck.

@D0r, some folks tried typographical error service request for the from I-130, sent letter to uscis officer, and also called uscis to make the correction. I also tried all of them but none of these worked for me.

in the description of the i-824 it says that this form should not be sent to correct an error in a previously approved petition, I invite you to read the i-824 instructions on the uscis page

@Tek Sharma , when you called USCIS, did they create an incident number for you or did they just say " No you have to file I824?

@Adil They didn’t create any incident #. The representative told me to file I-824 as per the I-797 notice.

i waited for my i-130 approval for good 22 months and now this i-824 just because of the simple mistake i made while filling the form …

You might not have to file it again as long as it’s valid uscis lockbox address. I would suggest you to call USCIS at 800-375-5283 and say infopass when robot says tell me how can I help you? That way it will connect you to the live agent. Explain your situation, they should be able to guide you.

hi guys i just spoke to uscis they gave me two opetions i can either wait for the center to reject and send the application back or sometimes they do forward it to the right center as well but why to wait they have asked me to stop the previous payment that i have sent with the application and resend it to the right address … which i am going to do right away …. anyone who faca the same prb can follow this and thankyou all for your support

Hi Guys, Same problem, I made a mistake on I 130 for my Son, I answered questions 61a as well as 62a. My son is in abroad. They sent me a notice to file I 824. I did send an email to USCIS to please forward this case to NVC. Anyone has the experience to move their case to NVC without I 824.

hey nope you have to file i-824 and request uscis to forward the case to nvc as they sometimes do forward it to nvc prior to i824 approval

This thing was happened to me also. My i130 approved after 12 months of time. My case went to nebraska. I filed i824 month ago. It usually takes 3 months to approve, thats what mentioned everywhere. Hello, I sent the I-824 to Arizona address and it was received on 3/21/2023. Beneficiary is outside the states. I omitted that beneficiary intends to apply abroad for immigrant visa. So far money order has not been cashed. Does anyone know how long it's taking USCIS to send receipt notice? Time frame of money order being cashed? Approximate time frame for USCIS to send request to NVC? Or those this request need to be approved first, then sent to NVC? Thank you in advance for any feedback

My I-130 is approved but USCIS retained my petition because of a mistake on I-130 but I don’t recall exactly how did that happen. They’ve asked me to file I-824 to request USCIS to send approved petition to NVC for consular processing. Do I have to pay another filing fee for I-824 form?

I'm in the same boat. I filed for my spouse, and uscis approved my petition but has retained for action. they are telling me to file 1-824 for further action. I got citizenship few months back, and I think that is making trouble. Any suggestions?

@janki patel Yes, they approved after 7 months. This is frustrating. If they’ve retained due to your mistake please file i824 asap. They don’t forward your case to the NVC without i824. If mistake is on their end, you can request for the correction. You can call uscis and ask them to update your visa status to citizen. I suggest you to do asap as they give priority to the citizens.

@Tek Sharma, I have submitted the I-824 with copy of I130 approval downloaded from uscis account, because I didn't received the original approval notice. I have also changed visa status from green card to citizen. It's been two weeks but they have not cashed the check yet. Hoping for quick approval.

My I-130 had been approved in March and I was asked to file the I-824, which I did and received a receipt from them on April 10th. Hoping the will approve it soon. Happened to me too! I cried when I saw the pdf notice of my I-130 retained approval. Did you guys send the pdf approval or wait until you receive I-797 in the mail before submitting I-824? Please enlighten me T_T

@Felicia Ni So sorry to hear that this happened to you. You’ll receive the same i797 notice in your mailbox. You don’t have to wait for it. Just print out the pdf and attach along with your i824. Good luck

This happened to me recently. My wife's I-130 petition was approved February 2023. I noticed that the letter stated that I needed to submit I-824 if a consular processing was taking place. I submitted I-824 in March 2023. It's now February 2024 and I have yet to hear anything about it. I can't even call, because the earliest I can submit an inquiry about the form is June 2024. Ridiculous!
