no idea. but did you get RFE for your birth certificate?

yes I did. I was told it was not from the appropriate civil authority. so, I am not sure what it should look like now. lawyer is not sure either

@oluwatobi Ojo Have you or your lawyer checked the State Department website which details which documents are accepted for each country? You can find Malawi by this link: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Malawi.html Scroll down the page to the section ‘Birth, Death & Burial Certificates. You should find which birth certificates are accepted by USCIS and the State Department.

@Mr BD thank you. I want to believe the issue here will be the signature. it says on the link you sent that it should be signed by a “chief director or director”. mine was signed by “principal secretary”. I just hope that is what’s required to avoid issues. if any Malawian attorney comes across this post. please help me to be certain. I will delay sending the rfe back. thank you.
