it’s not allowed. if you filed marriage based then your VAWA will be denied and red flag for them.

if your vawa is not approved yet, a new marriage will invalidate your vawa application. you can only remarry after vawa approval to keep the vawa running.

@Ivan b so you remarried while you have a vawa pending or was your vawa already approved??? if not then your vawa case will be null and void.

I know of someone who had a VAWA case on file, and when he got married to his new partner he withdrew the VAWA case and filed again through the new marriage. His application is approved now.

it’s possible . I seen that . just make sure you not going through again something about abuse . it will get harder .

I’ve been living with my partner for over three years now. We have about three leases together, we’ve traveled to more than 10 countries, and we’ve attended many family events together. We also have a joint car and joint credit cards. I’m curious—instead of waiting, should we get married?

@Ivan b it’s up to you, you could take into consideration how long your vawa application has been pending and how long the processing time for marriage based AoS is for your state. if you’ve submitted your vawa application for more than 3yrs now then it’s likely close to getting a decision.

@Ricky Jose it was smooth. He got 10 years green card no interview. Submitted the application in Nov 2022. So it took 2 years and 2 months. His initial vawa was submitted 2021.
